Subscribe in a readerSo this is my first Wordpress entry, how awesome is that.
I spent a few hours last night looking for a theme I really liked and when I finally found one my internet went down, but here it is. I’m not used to having themes; I always edit them to high heavens to make them my own. The way wordpress themes are set up is going to take a little getting used to before I start creating my own. I’m not used to having the CSS and html separate (I know you’re supposed to, but that’s just not how I learned), and I know nothing about php. The widgets thing is something completely knew to me too, but I think I like it; I’m used to just taking javascript or html and dropping it into the template when I want to add something to the sidebar.
I like this theme now though and I’m still doing a little tweaking to get the sidebars how I like.

One thing you’ll definitely want to turn on is the akismet plugin to catch blog spam. Just go to the plugins and turn it on. It’ll ask you for a key and stuff, just follow the steps it gives ya.
Widgets are great, makes turning features on/off a cinch! I can recommend a handful of plug-ins that are good, too. I’ll sort that for ya soon.
