Subscribe in a readerWould you believe that yesterday was National Grammar Day and I’m just now finding out about it. What luck.
I am in need of some new instrumental type music to listen to, any recommendations would be great. I prefer instrumental (or just very little singing) music on the rock/experimental side or what I think is called downtempo, a few examples of what I already listen to: Unwed Sailor, Sigur Rós, Foxhole, Questions in Dialect, Jack or Jive, Dntel, Air, Bell Orchestre, Prhizzm, Caribou, Boards of Canada, Explosions in the Sky. You get the picture. If you have any recommendations please comment. If you want to recommend something completely different that’s good too, I’ll try anything once.
Edit to add something I just found through Google News, Patrick Swayze was diagnosed with cancer and told he has only a few weeks to live.
I know the genre you’re talking about, but I have no recommendations. One band that does have singing, but you might dig the music, is Bernard.
I’m thinking about listening to more electronic/house kind of music to appeal to my love of different beats. Do you listen to anything like that?

Well, you might like Dntel, Caribou, Boards of Canada, Prhizzm, Jóhann Jóhannsson, and Massive Attack. I don’t think any of them would be considered house, but they’re electronic and have good beats.
I would recommend Aphex Twin, Mogwai or the new Nine Inch Nails. I have heard only some of it. It is all instrumental and it is being given away for free. Otherwise, what you have is good so far. Hope that helps.

I have one more recommendation that I forgot. The Album Leaf. Sigur Ros has worked with them and I’ve seen them live and would reccomend if you like Sigur Ros.
I’ve seen Explosions in the Sky perform live. Pretty amazing stuff. Bernard, unfortunately, broke up not too long ago. Saw them perform at Cornerstone Florida about 2-3 years ago. They had a cool stage presence, projecting vintage footage on their walls and whatnot. I’ve gotten into Sigur Ros a lot more lately, as I’ve been blasting their music while I do my projects.
You might like Tycho, Machine Drum, The Go! Team, Mr. Scruff. And maybe Caural, and Delarosa & Asora.
The newest Beastie Boys album is pretty cool, too. It’s completely instrumentals with the Beasties playing the instruments.
Some of the ones I mentioned have more of a hip-hop lean to them, just so ya know. Enjoy!
